Mineralometry

Mineralometry - Centre d'imagerie médicale du Chablais

Mineralometry is a medical examination that analyses and measures bone mineral density, i.e. the amount of calcium in the bones, to determine how strong the bones are. The aim is to detect osteoporosis before a fracture occurs.

There are no contraindications. Please specify if you are pregnant or likely to be pregnant.

You must not have undergone an examination with a contrast medium 3 days previously, otherwise no special preparation is required.

The examination form signed by your doctor.

Your health insurance card or, in the event of an accident, your declaration.

This is a quick test, lasting about 15 minutes.

You lie on your back, flat on a table, and a machine moves slowly over you. Your legs are then placed on a cube for another series of measurements.

Most often, the measurements are taken at the level of the femur, which is a so-called long bone, and at the level of the lumbar vertebrae to examine the so-called short bones.

The measurements must be taken at a distance from an old fracture. The results obtained are a true reflection of your skeleton as a whole.

The examination takes just 15 minutes and is completely painless.
